Start making clothes, or develop and improve your sewing skills. Course ideal for beginners and also suitable for Improvers wishing to further develp their sewing skills and work on more complex patterns and techniques. Learn about fabric, using a pattern, adjusting fit, darts, pockets, zips, seam finishing, overlocking, hems, waist finishes and interfacing. Create a skirt, trousers, top or dress to fit perfectly, fun childrenswear, jackets or coats. Alternatively, you may prefer to learn to make cushions, bags, childrens toys or a project of your choice.
It is recommended you start with making a skirt or children's clothes if you have not made clothes before. Making trousers, then a top or dress would be the next stage.
Pattern and materials required. Advice and information will be given on booking.
Some basic knowledge of using a sewing machine required, but no previous garment making knowledge necessary. The ‘Learn to sew – The basics’ is an essential starting point for absolute beginners. Suitable for those wishing to get back into sewing.
Help yourself to tea, coffee, biscuits and delicious cake, throughout the session.... to keep those creative juices flowing.
Dressmaking Wednesdays 6.30-9pm
Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date. If for any reason you are unable to attend please feel free to send a substitute. If you book a workshop for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Please check the dates carefully prior to booking.
All workshops/courses must be paid for in full prior to the workshop start date. Payment can be made by cash, PayPal, credit/debit card or cheques. Whether booking by post or online you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the terms and conditions. Once a booking has been made, you will receive a confirmation email and information about any materials or equipment required.
Cancellations by you: Refunds will only be given under exceptional circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis.
Cancellations by us: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop/course you will be given at least 24 hours notice and offered a transfer to another date or receive a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
