Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
No. We provide Janome CXL301 sewing machines and overlockers. If you would prefer to bring your own sewing machine please contact Jayne in advance of starting the course.
Do I need to bring my own scissors, pins etc.?
Everything is provided for the Learn to sew,- The Basics and Creative Applique Cusion workshops Students attending other courses are expected to bring their own, but of course you can borrow any of the Sewing School equipment. Further advice and information will be provided on booking for a course or workshop.
Will I have to bring fabrics and thread ?
For the Beginners, Improvers and Advanced dressmaking classes you will need to bring your own fabric and thread, for some classes a commercial pattern, so you can make that individual garment to fit you. Advice and information will be provided on booking and within sessions.
Do I need to bring a packed lunch?
Help yourself to tea, coffee, biscuits and delicious cake, throughout the session.... to keep those creative juices flowing. Please bring a packed lunch for day courses, we have a fridge!
What time do classes start?
Classes start promptly, at the time advertised for the course or workshop; please aim to be punctual, as classes start with a group introduction and demonstration. The studio will be open 15 minutes before the start of classes, so you welcome to come early and make yourself a drink or just relax and chat before classes start.
Are there any stairs to get to the studio?
Yes, the studio is on the first floor.
Can I get to you by public transport?
Yes. The nearest railway stations are March, King’s Lynn and Peterborough,, and then you could catch a bus or get a taxi. The nearest airport is Luton, Stansted, East Midlands or Birmingham.
Where can I stay?
There are B & B’s in the area, a Premier Inn in King’s Lynn and Peterborough. Also, there is a Travelodge in Long Sutton, King's Lynn and Peterborough.
Do you have parking?
Yes, there is plenty of onsite parking.
You are not listing the course I would like to do?
We are adding new courses all the time please just complete an enquiry form or ring to discuss what you are interested in doing. Alternatively we also offer 1:1 tuition sessions, so you can develop skills and learn specifically for you.
Is there anything I need to consider about working safely before I come?
Please consider your dress and footwear for classes. No loose scarves or clothing, high heels, avoid very long nails and prepare to tie long hair back please.
Booking terms & Conditions
Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date. If for any reason you are unable to attend please feel free to send a substitute. If you book a workshop for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Please check the dates carefully prior to booking.
All workshops/courses must be paid for in full prior to the workshop start date. Payment can be made by cash, PayPal, credit/debit card or cheques. Whether booking by post or online you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the terms and conditions.
Once a booking has been made, you will receive a confirmation email and information about any materials or equipment required.
Refund / Cancellation Policy
Cancellations by you: Refunds will only be given under exceptional circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis.
Cancellations by us: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop/course you will be given at least 24 hours notice and offered a transfer to another date or receive a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
