Where is Stitch Studio Sewing School?

The Sewing School is situated in the village of Challock in Kent, near 8 miles from Faversham, 7 miles from Ashford and 11 miles from Canterbury. The address is Oak House, 1 Paddock View, Faversham Rd, Challock, TN25 4BQ. 

 

What Covid Safety procedures are in place?

We have put in place a range of procedures and measures to avoid transmission of Covid-19. Group sizes have been reduced to 5 (normally 6) and everyone has their own table. On booking you will be sent information on the latest guidance studio regarding Covid procedures..

 

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?

We suggest you bring your own machine, especially beginners, so you can become more confident on your own machine you use. Janome machines are available, but please request on booking.

 

Do I need to bring my own scissors, pins etc.?

We suggest you to bring your own equipment and sewing machine. The studio is fully equipped, so you are welcome to borrow  equipment, if required, additional cleaning protocols are in place.  A range of equipment is also available for purchase. What to bring and further  information will be provided on booking for a course or workshop.

 

Will I have to bring fabrics and thread ?

For Beginners, Improvers and Advanced dressmaking classes you will need to bring your own fabric and thread and pattern, so you can make that individual garment to fit you.  All materials are provided for some workshops.  Advice and information will be provided on booking and within sessions.

 

Do I need to bring a packed lunch?

Tea, coffee and biscuits are freely available, to keep those creative juices flowing. Please bring a packed lunch for day courses. 

 

What time do classes start?

Classes start promptly, at the time advertised for the course or workshop; please aim to be punctual, as classes start with a group introduction and demonstration.  The studio will be open 15 minutes before the start of classes, so you welcome to come early and get organised, or just relax and chat before classes start.

 

Are there any stairs to get to the studio?

Yes, the studio is on the first floor.

 

Can I get to you by public transport?

Yes. The nearest railway stations are Charing, Wye, Ashford and Faversham. The village of Challock is on the Bus route 666 from Faversham to Ashford and Bus route 667 Canterbury to Ashford, both with stops at the Halfway House, which is only 5 minutes walk to the Studio.  Taxi's are also available. The nearest airport is Gatwick.

 

Where can I stay?

There are plenty of Hotels and B&B’s in the area. 

Do you have parking?

Yes, there is onsite parking.

You are not listing the course I would like to do?

We are adding new courses all the time please just complete an enquiry form or ring to discuss what you are interested in doing. Alternatively we also offer 1:1 tuition sessions, so you can develop skills and learn specifically for you.

 

Is there anything I need to consider about working safely before I come?

Please consider your dress and footwear for classes. No loose scarves or clothing, high heels,  avoid very long nails and prepare to tie long hair back please. 

Booking terms & Conditions

Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date.  If for any reason you are unable to attend please feel free to send a substitute. If you book a workshop for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Please check the dates carefully prior to booking.

All workshops/courses must be paid for in full prior to the workshop start date. Payment can be made by Cash, PayPal, Debit/Credit card, Cheque or BACS. Whether booking by post or online you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the terms and conditions.

Once a booking has been made, you will receive a confirmation email and information about any materials or equipment required.

 

Refund / Cancellation Policy

Cancellations by you: Refunds will only be given under exceptional circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis.

Cancellations by us: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop/course you will be given at least 24 hours notice and offered a transfer to another date or receive a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
