Are you confident on the sewing machine and made a few garments out of woven (non-stretchy) fabric, but too scared to tackle a knit fabric?

During the workshop you will learn a range of techniques and ways of handling and sewing jersey knits both with an overlocker and an ordinary sewing machine. You will produce samples and make notes, which you can refer back to when sewing with jersey at home.

You will also learn about differing types of jersey fabric, needles and stitches to use, as well as twin needles and try different ways of finishing jersey hems, necklines and sleeves to achieve a professional finish. Find out how to test the stretch and how to set up your machine for stitching with knitted fabrics.

You will need to have done some dressmaking before, but not necessarily used an overlocker.

Please bring your own sewing machine and overlocker if you have one, as its best to learn on your own machine. Machines are available, please request on booking. Please bring your own equiment - list will be provided on booking. Fabric included.

Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date. If for any reason you are unable to attend please feel free to send a substitute. If you book a workshop for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Please check the dates carefully prior to booking.

All workshops/courses must be paid for in full prior to the workshop start date. Payment can be made by cash, PayPal, credit/debit card or cheques. Whether booking by post or online you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the terms and conditions. Once a booking has been made, you will receive a confirmation email and information about any materials or equipment required.

Cancellations by you: Refunds will only be given under exceptional circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis.

Cancellations by us: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop/course you will be given at least 24 hours notice and offered a transfer to another date or receive a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
