Live online dressmaking class. It's an ideal way of learning at a distance, in the comfort of your home in a group situation. You can work on any project you wish and you will be given individual tuition relating to your project and a chance to engage and learn from others. There will be technique demonstrations with close up camera shots as required and weekly sewing tips.
Jayne has a two camera set to capture general demonstrations and discussion, with close ups of using machine and hand techniques, so you can easily see and learn.
You just need a mobile phone, laptop or ipad (any device with a good camera, microphone and wifi signal).
Start dressmaking and sewing or improve and develop your skills. Class ideal for beginners and also suitable for improvers wishing to further develop their sewing skills and work on more complex patterns and techniques and difficult fabrics.
Create clothes to fit perfectly, womenswear, fun childrenswear, menswear, anything from pyjamas, skirts, dresses, tops, evening wear to jackets or coats. Alternatively create lovely unique craft items, for example bags, toys, bunting, cushions, roman blinds or a project of your choice. Learn about fabrics, using a pattern, seams, hems, darts, pockets, zips, seam finishing and interfacing.
It is recommended you start with making a skirt, simple trousers, pyjamas or children's clothes if you have not made clothes before. Then you can progress to making fitted trousers, tops or dress as examples.
Pattern and materials required. Advice and information will be given on booking.
Some basic knowledge of using a sewing machine required, but no previous garment making knowledge necessary. The ‘Learn to sew – The basics’ is an essential starting point for absolute beginners.
