Interested in learning how to design and create patterns without having to buy commercial patterns? Do you struggle to find that perfect fit when looking for skirts, dresses or trousers?
On this workshop you will learn the basics of drafting your own dress and skirt blcok and or trouser block. You will draft a block to your personal measurements and make a paper pattern to take away to use for your future garment making. You will also make a toile (mock up) of your block pattern so that you will be able to check for fit.
Learn how to:
-Take accurate body measurements necessary to draft the block.
-Draft a skirt and bodice block (dress block) and/or trouser block to your personal body measurements.
-Make a toile – to check the fit of your new skirt/dress /trousers block.
-Make pattern alterations for a perfect fit.
-Learn techniques on how to adapt your block to your own designs and be creative.
Advice and information on what to bring will be given on booking. This workshop is suitable for students new to pattern cutting. Previous dressmaking experience essential.
From this workshop you could progress and attend the Improvers pattern cutting workshops to develop and extend yours skills using your new block.
All tools and equipment are provided or you may prefer to bring your own. Calico, pattern paper and card will be provided. Information will be provided on booking.
Beginners Pattern Cutting course
Once made, a booking cannot be transferred to an alternative date. If for any reason you are unable to attend please feel free to send a substitute. If you book a workshop for several days duration please make sure you can attend all days. Please check the dates carefully prior to booking.
All workshops/courses must be paid for in full prior to the workshop start date. Payment can be made by cash, PayPal, credit/debit card or cheques. Whether booking by post or online you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the terms and conditions. Once a booking has been made, you will receive a confirmation email and information about any materials or equipment required.Cancellations by you: Refunds will only be given under exceptional circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis.
Cancellations by us: In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop/course you will be given at least 24 hours notice and offered a transfer to another date or receive a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
